4-Aminopyridine is a non-selective Kv channel blocker, which blocks nearly all Kv currents although its potency varies over a wide range. It blocks Kv 2.1 and Kv 3.1 channels with IC50 of 18 and 0.1 mM, respectively, in oocytes. Kv 1.1 and Kv 1.2 channels are blocked by 4-AP with IC50 of 147 muM and 230 muM, respectively, in CHO cells. It has also been used in the clinic to manage some of the symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis.
