B690 was raised against a peptide sequence CLRQQHDDFADDISLLK , the C-terminal 17 amino acids of the human BACE1 and recognizes the mature and immature forms of BACE.

This antibody is effective in immunoblotting, immunocytochemistry, (ICC) and immunoprecipitation (IP). Processing of the -amyloid precursor protein ( APP) by two endopeptidases, and secretases generates the amyloidogenic peptide A , a major factor in the etiology of Alzheimers disease. The beta secretase is a novel membrane bound aspartyl protease which cleaves the -APP to generate the N-terminus of the A domain. The membrane bound C-terminal fragment generated by the beta secretase cut is subsequently cleaved by the gamma secretase, resulting in the generation and secretion of A . Clone also known as B690. .
