Western blot analysis of SDF1 was performed by loading whole cell lysates from COS cells (right lane) and COS cells expressing recombinant SDF1 (left lane) on a SDS-PAGE gel. Proteins were transferred to a membrane and the membrane was probed with a SDF1 polyclonal antibody (Product # PA5-17238), at a 1:1000 dilution, followed by a peroxidase-conjugated anti-rabbit IgG secondary antibody. Detection was performed using a chemiluminescent substrate.

CXCL12 is a stromal cell-derived alpha chemokine member of the intercrine family. This gene product and its receptor CXCR4 can activate lymphocytes and have been implicated in the metastasis of some cancers such as breast cancer. Mutations in this gene are associated with resistance to human immunodeficiency virus type 1 infections. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
