Activity requires incubation with lipid activators, and may vary depending on the substrate and reaction conditions. Storage Buffer: PKC-a is supplied at a of 0.37mg/ml in 20mM HEPES pH 7.5, 250mM NaCl, 50% glycerol, 2mM EDTA,2mM EGTA, 0.05%Triton X-100 and 5mM DTT. Specific Activity: 1570 nmole of phosphate transferred to Histone H1 substrate per minute per mg of total protein at 30 degree C. PKC family members also serve as major receptors for phorbol esters, a class of tumor promoters. Each member of the PKC family has a specific expression profile and is believed to play a distinct role in cells. The protein encoded by this gene is one of the PKC family members. This kinase has been reported to play roles in many different cellular processes, such as cell adhesion, cell transformation, cell cycle checkpoint, and cell volume control.
