This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of sheep IL7. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between sheep IL7 and analogues was observed.

Typical Testing Data/Standard Curve (for reference only)

Samples: Serum, Plasma, Tissue Homogenates. Assay Type: Quantitative Sandwich. Detection Range: 3.9 pg/ml-250 pg/ml. Sensitivity: 0.975 pg/ml.

Intra-assay Precision: Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay): CV%<8%. Three samples of known concentration were tested twenty times on one plate to assess. Inter-assay Precision: Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays): CV%<10%. Three samples of known concentration were tested in twenty assays to assess.

Principle of the Assay: This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. Antibody specific for IL7 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any IL7 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for IL7 is added to the wells. After washing, avidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of IL7 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the CXC chemokine family. This chemokine is one of the major mediators of the inflammatory response. This chemokine is secreted by several cell types. It functions as a chemoattractant, and is also a potent angiogenic factor. This gene is believed to play a role in the pathogenesis of bronchiolitis, a common respiratory tract disease caused by viral infection. This gene and other ten members of the CXC chemokine gene family form a chemokine gene cluster in a region mapped to chromosome 4q. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Function: IL-8 is a chemotactic factor that attracts neutrophils, basophils, and T-cells, but not monocytes. It is also involved in neutrophil activation. It is released from several cell types in response to an inflammatory stimulus. IL-8(6-77) has a 5-10-fold higher activity on neutrophil activation, IL-8(5-77) has increased activity on neutrophil activation and IL-8(7-77) has a higher affinity to receptors CXCR1 and CXCR2 as compared to IL-8(1-77), respectively.3 PublicationsManual assertion based on experiment in:Ref.15
